Cherub Room

Named after a rather dubious oil painting of a Cherub hanging above the fire. This room is directly above and similar to Dukes. Glorious views of the bay, stables, Opera House and of course, Johnnie’s lobsters coming home. McEwan half tester bed in Maple with matching vanity unit & washstand commissioned for this room in 1852. Large bathroom with separate shower, loo in turret.
Double bed: 142 cm x 193 cm (5’ x 6’2)

Blue Room

Large double room with bathroom (bath & separate shower). Glorious sea view from the oriel window. For many, this is the most enchanting of the rooms in the house, which was originally the nursery, and contains the original stove, feeding chair and the cot (made in 1852). Home to Tommy and Terry who refuse to move out. Half tester bed.
Double bed: 142 cm x 193 cm (5’ x 6’2”)

Hempriggs Room

Double room with interesting bathroom (bath & separate shower). Gets its name from the original title of the Dunbar’s from Aberdeenshire. The Dunbar’s came to Caithness from Aberdeenshire purchasing Hempriggs House in 1691, which is how we came to name this room. The furniture in this room originally came from Hempriggs House. It takes a warm glow in the evening sunset. Looks out to the beach at Reiss and the old bleaching lawn.
Twin beds: 90 cm x 200 cm (3’ x 6’6”) or linked to form large king size bed

Dunbar Room

Double room with bathroom with shower over bath. This room is opposite Hempriggs and the name comes from the “Dunbar’s” of Hempriggs. A very interesting shaped room with lots of character. It has the original iron bed. Once the Linen Store.
Double bed: 137 cm x 193 cm (4’6” x 6’4”)
